Product selection
Choosing Natural Stone Wall Cladding
Choose for the wall
Compare stone colour, texture, thickness and panel weight using actual pieces. Decide whether the wall is indoors, exposed to rain or part of a building elevation. Ask whether the stone and fixing system suit that location.
Before ordering
Bring wall dimensions and photos of corners, openings and the supporting surface. Allow for cuts and natural variation. Approve a sample arrangement rather than expecting every piece to match exactly.
Installation
Installing Natural Stone Wall Cladding
Plan the fixing system
Have a qualified installer assess wall strength, moisture and the weight of the cladding. Heavy or high-level stone may need an engineered mechanical fixing system. An adhesive-only method must be specifically suitable for the assembly.
Arrange before fixing
Dry arrange pieces to balance shades and joints. Resolve corners, weather protection and movement joints before installation. Keep the area protected during curing and have loose or unsupported pieces corrected before handover.
Maintenance
Maintaining Natural Stone Wall Cladding
Remove surface dust
Use a soft brush suited to the stone texture. Where washing is appropriate, use a stone-compatible cleaner, rinse and avoid soaking adjacent materials. Test a discreet patch first.
Check exposed walls
Look for staining, open joints and signs of water ingress after wet weather. Persistent deposits need assessment of their source rather than repeated aggressive washing. Avoid acid cleaning on unidentified stone.
Care
Caring for Natural Stone Wall Cladding
Protect the finish
Confirm whether a compatible breathable treatment is appropriate for the particular stone and exposure. Test appearance before treating the whole wall. Keep landscaping and irrigation from continually wetting cladding.
Arrange repairs promptly
Keep spare pieces and installation records. If a stone loosens, restrict access below it and arrange professional inspection. Do not simply cover movement, dampness or failed fixings with cosmetic joint repairs.
